Elles Font l'Art: A Series of Conversations Highlighting Women in the Art World
The discussion series Elles font l'Art highlights the women shaping the art world, providing a unique platform to explore the richness and diversity of professions within this sphere. Inspired by an inclusive and comprehensive approach, this initiative goes beyond traditional figures such as artists, gallerists, and collectors to spotlight roles often overlooked but crucial to the sector’s vitality and sustainability: curators, critics, art advisors, producers, and many more.
Elles font l'Art seeks to illuminate the silent yet undeniable intergenerational transmission that defines the art world.
By fostering a dialogue between generations, it pays tribute to pioneers whose uncompromising dedication paved the way for today’s women professionals.
This discreet but powerful sorority, often unspoken, will be at the heart of the discussions, shedding light on the subtle but essential connections between these women who, each in their own way, contribute to reshaping the codes of a demanding and often opaque field.
The inaugural conversation, hosted by Soho House Paris and supported by Victoria Le Boloc'h-Salama & Catherine Gheysen.
This first exchange will be moderated by Anaël Pigeat, art critic and journalist, and will bring together inspiring figures:
- Anne Barrault, a passionate gallerist and founder of her eponymous gallery, dedicated to promoting both emerging and established artists, with a particular focus on socially engaged works.
- Daria de Beauvais, senior curator and head of international relations at the Palais de Tokyo, who supports emerging and established artists over the long term.
- Nina Childress, a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts, professor at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and a painter renowned for her bold approach to colors and portraits.
Together, they will delve into key themes, including:
- What led them to pursue their current profession.
- Their perception of the evolution of their field and industry dynamics.
- The sense of personal and professional fulfillment in their careers.
- Their views on the position of women in art and within their respective professions.
Join us for this inspiring moment, marking the beginning of an initiative dedicated to those who, whether in the spotlight or behind the scenes, are making art.
