Marguerite Piard, a painter born in 1996 in Rueil-Malmaison, France, graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2020.
She favors non-traditional pictorial supports such as ovoid pebbles, irregular wooden planks coated with papier-mâché, and cuttlebone. Their shapes embrace and amplify the symbolic, precious, and vulnerable dimension of the female bodies that constitute the artist's preferred theme. In a generous, textured Mediterranean palette, pagan and classical iconographies intertwine, notably through the recurring imagery of the seashell-sex motif and water as a magical vehicle for introspection.
In March 2024, Marguerite will present *Sang-froid*, her third solo exhibition at Galerie Paris B, following *La folle allure* at Château La Coste and *J’ai quelque fois des vivants qui me donnent des insomnies* with Galerie Maestria in Paris.
She has recently participated in exhibitions such as *Beyond Ecstasy* at Stems Gallery in Paris, ART PARIS fair with Galerie Paris B, *Beautiful Twisted Mind* at Mint Gallery in Munich, *Maison Palo* at Palo Gallery in New York, and *Pride Unprejudiced* at Edji Gallery in Brussels.
She will spend a month in Paxos, Greece, for the Therapeia residency. From 2022 to 2023, she was a resident at Consulat Voltaire and recently set up her studio in Montreuil within the Atelier OE collective.
