While the art world has made progress in recent years, significant disparities remain in opportunities and recognition for women across the industry—not just artists, but also curators, producers, writers, critics, and other professionals shaping the cultural landscape.
Inspired by Toni Morrison’s poignant words, "If you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else," A Women’s Art Association (AWAA) is a French nonprofit dedicated to supporting women working in all facets of the arts. With humility and purpose, the organization seeks to address the unique challenges they face, offering the resources, mentorship, and platforms needed to thrive.
Based in Paris, AWAA provides career and strategic coaching through workshops and personalized mentoring, creates opportunities for public and private commissions, and facilitates networking, exhibitions, and publications. These tailored initiatives are no longer exclusively for artists but encompass a broader community of women contributing to the arts in diverse ways.
By focusing on collaboration, equity, and empowerment, the association aims not only to elevate individual careers but also to build a more inclusive and dynamic art ecosystem.
At the heart of AWAA’s mission is the belief that true empowerment reaches beyond personal success—it inspires a ripple effect, fostering solidarity and strengthening the wider creative community.
